Last Plug I Swear.

Ahem. If you are still following this blog I am sure you have realized a few things: I am now a DJ at 89.1 WIDR FM Kalamazoo and that I’ve only used tumblr lately to plug 89.1 FM WIDR FM Kalamazoo. Unfortunately I haven’t really had a lot of time lately, so I have only been able to show you all how to listen to Widr anywhere, now I am going to tell you why you should listen to Widr everywhere.

Widr is the student-run non-commerical radio station of Western Michigan University, which means a few things. Since WMU provides all the funding for Widr we don’t get our funding from record companies paying for airspace. ANYWAY, since no one gives a damn about profit we get to play what ever we want. Each DJ gets to play whatever they want during their time slot, so long as it doesn’t break any FCC Regulations. Every genre you could possibly think of gets air time on Widr, and if you can think of one that doesn’t I’ll personally fucking play it. Here of some of the fine show Widr offers:

I. Souvlaki Space Station with The Animosity Child
Playing all of the most lustrous, noisy music; from shoegaze to post-rock, goa-trance to harsh noise, and beyond. Encompassed by the idea of the ‘wall of sound,’ taking the tragic and making it beautiful…

II. Thrash It Or Trash It with John and Michelle
WIDR’s sassiest duo spin the latest records, thrashing the good and trashing the bad! Thrashed records get put on WIDR Variety, a selection of unreleased and brand-spanking-new albums that are played entirely, NO SINGLES, we hate hearing the same damn songs over and over again too. If to callers Trash the album than it gets tossed. Features surprise guests.

III. The Hammock District with blackhands.
The Hammock District is Variety at its best, it tends to dive deep into musical sub-genres to experience every form of music possible. Call in and name a band with an interesting sub-genre and as much effort as possible will be put into getting it on air. Not to many big bands though, makes it more of a challenge.

IV SwaG! with Bat Guano
Finally, a Radio Program You Can LISTEN To! When Bat Guano created SwaG!, he used ingredients specially blended for listen-ability. All of the notes created by the finest musicians are in most of the songs he broadcasts. Genres are mixed and matched, compared and contrasted, hitting all the seasons that make it lively for the ears tongue. Then it is all lightly breaded and personally dipt in Ranch Dressing by your server, Bat Guano. How’s everything tastin’ tonight? Everything’s tastin’ like SwaG!
Podcast (Honestly, this guy’s voice makes me want to hurt things, but he plays SUCH GOOD MUSIC)

V Morning Rave with MC Cufflynxxx and DJ Hot Pocket
Two skinny white dudes reading the news and making fun of it. Good to get ready to in the morning, nuff said.
